Destination protocol

The destination protocol within CarCollect is the tool for car companies that want to keep control over their trade-in vehicles. You set your own rules, such as brand, fuel or mileage. You do this based on vehicles that you want to sell in your own showroom. Vehicles that meet these requirements automatically end up on an internal status on CarCollect. This is only visible to your own organization and therefore not accessible to other traders on CarCollect.

Benefits of the destination protocol

Using the destination protocol has several advantages. Based on pre-set rules, vehicles are automatically transferred within your own organization. This way, the internal offer process is fully automated and you do not have to go through all the steps on CarCollect. When the vehicle arrives, you can close the file immediately. You do not let traders bid on the vehicle, but you let your own team determine the purchase price. This allows you to determine the purchase price of your own brand yourself and maintain control over your margins. This means fewer surprises and more control.

Another advantage is that with a destination protocol you create a list of vehicles that have yet to arrive, but have already been traded in. From this list, you can search for cars that a new customer is looking for, but that you do not currently have in the showroom. In other words: you can sell vehicles without them being physically inside!

The final advantage of a destination protocol has to do with building a positive trade image. This is because as a seller you only offer vehicles that you really intend to grant to the trade (provided you can trade in the car or make the deal with the customer). In other words: your offer as a seller remains ‘clean’, which makes it interesting for traders to bid with you. After all, the chance of being granted a car is relatively high! 

Insight for management

The destination protocol also offers great advantages for management. You gain more insight into what is happening within your company. If the destination protocol is set up correctly, CarCollect Analytics will measure the trade-in conversion for you. This is measured separately on both internal vehicles and commercial vehicles. You can manage this within your organization. So you see the trade-in conversion of vehicles at both destinations. A destination protocol can be set up for multiple branches. This way you keep track of which vehicles are traded in and how many of them are kept internally. This gives you more insight into your inventory management and you can therefore see per branch which vehicles are still coming in to put in the showroom. You keep full control and prevent valuable stock from being given away at purchase prices.
